Covid-19 UPDATE – This training is an essential service for hiring and retaining employment in essential fields. All courses include online coursework with additional in-class evolutions following strict social distancing guidelines. Participants will be eligible for employment after successfully completing the online work and course sessions.
Make a difference! Become a CNA with the Red Cross Nursing Assistant Program! The American Red Cross CNA Nurse Assistant Training Program gives students a chance to learn in a hands-on environment under the eyes of experienced licensed nurses, bolstered by a curriculum that meets or exceeds federal and state standards.
Graduates of the program are eligible to take the Minnesota CNA competency examination. After successful completion of the state exam (additional state testing fees may apply) you will be listed on the state Nurse Aide Registry. The state competency exam includes both a written examination and a skills evaluation. The purpose of the state exam is to make sure that the graduate understands and can safely perform in the role of an entry-level nurse assistant. *During Covid-19 clinical rotations have been waived so that employers can hire CNA’s quickly after completion of the course.*
The Red Cross Nurse Assistant Training course has several components. Students must pass all portions of the training in order to graduate.
Pre-Requisites: Students should be 16 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED. Scrubs and masks are required for in-person sessions. Feel free to contact our office with any questions. Though not a prerequisite for CNA training, it is highly recommended that you also have a current Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification card. This is required by most employers and is a separate class/certification. Information on options to take this course (if needed/desired) will be emailed prior to your course and can be found by selecting BLS from the navigation menu on our website.
Please read our cancellation and rescheduling policy prior to registration here.
Please see state information on reimbursement of training costs here.
